Why convert CSV → VCF

What this conversion is actually for

Phones and address books import .vcf, not spreadsheets. If your contacts live in a CSV (a CRM export, an event signup sheet, a list someone emailed you), converting to vCard is how you get them into iPhone, Android, or Outlook contacts in one import instead of typing each one.

A real example

You collected 120 attendees in a Google Sheet and want them in your phone before the conference. Export the sheet as CSV, convert to .vcf here, AirDrop or email the file to yourself, open it, add all.

Troubleshooting

Names or emails are blank in the imported contacts.

The converter maps columns by header name (fullName, firstName, lastName, email, phone, organization, title, url, birthday, address, note). Rename your CSV headers to match and reconvert.

Phone numbers lost their plus sign or leading zero.

That happens in the spreadsheet, not here: Excel/Sheets strip leading zeros and treat numbers as math. Format the phone column as plain text before exporting the CSV.

CSV is plain text, one row per line, fields separated by commas. The simplest possible tabular data format, which is exactly why it remains the most portable: every spreadsheet, database, programming language, and analytics tool reads CSV. Tradeoffs: no formulas, no formatting, no multiple sheets, and various edge cases around quoting fields that contain commas or newlines.

What's the maximum file size?

Whatever your browser can hold in memory. Practically, this means a few hundred MB on most computers, significantly larger than the 1-2 GB caps that server-upload converters charge for. Very large files (multi-GB) may require closing other browser tabs first.
