Why convert DST → JEF (Janome)
DST (Tajima) is the commercial-standard format; JEF is what Janome home machines read. Convert a DST design to JEF so it loads on your Janome.
You downloaded a DST design and own a Janome. Convert to JEF here and stitch it; the design geometry transfers exactly.
Colors came in as defaults.
DST carries no thread colors, so the JEF gets placeholder colors at each stop. Set your actual threads in Janome's software or on the machine.
Formats involved
DST is Tajima's industrial embroidery file format and the most universally-supported design format on commercial machines. 512-byte header followed by 3-byte stitch records. Brother, Janome, Bernina, Singer, Husqvarna Viking, all read DST as a fallback even when their native format is different.

JEF is Janome's embroidery format (also Memorycraft, Elna). 116-byte header with thread color list, then 2-byte stitch deltas. Used by Janome Memorycraft 9700/11000/15000 series and Elna eXpressive machines.

Nowhere. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your file is never uploaded to our servers. We don't have any servers handling files, there's nothing for us to log, store, or accidentally leak.
Whatever your browser can hold in memory. Practically, this means a few hundred MB on most computers, significantly larger than the 1-2 GB caps that server-upload converters charge for. Very large files (multi-GB) may require closing other browser tabs first.
Universal embroidery design interchange. Janome and Elna embroidery machines. The most common reason to convert is compatibility, JEF works in places where DST doesn't, or vice versa.

Once the page is loaded, the conversion itself runs entirely offline. The first time you use a tool, your browser downloads the conversion library (a one-time cache). If you reload while offline, the page won't load, but you can install the site as a Progressive Web App for full offline use.
