nothing uploaded no file size cap no signup

How it works

Three steps. No upload, no signup.

  1. 1

    Drop your file

Click the dropzone above or drag a Markdown from your desktop. Files of any size, there's no upload, so there's no upload limit.

  2. 2

    Convert in your browser

The conversion runs entirely in this tab using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your file never touches our servers, we don't have any.

  3. 3

    Download

Get your DOCX the moment the conversion finishes. Convert another, or close the tab.

Files stay on your device

Your file is never uploaded. The entire conversion runs in your browser using WebAssembly. We can't see what you convert because we have no server to see it.

No file size limit

Server converters cap free users at 1-2 GB and gate larger files behind a paid plan. Since nothing uploads, our limit is whatever your browser can handle.

Free, no signup, no ads on conversions

No account required. No watermark on the output. No queue. Drop a file, get a converted file.

Why convert Markdown → DOCX

What this conversion is actually for

You wrote in Markdown but the people reviewing it live in Word. A client, a professor, a legal team, a manager who track-changes everything. Convert your README, spec, or draft to a real .docx they can open and edit.

A real example

You drafted a proposal in Markdown in your editor. The client only accepts Word. Convert to DOCX here, send the .docx, they redline it in Word and send it back. Your headings, bold, italics, and lists carry over as Word styles.

Troubleshooting

Code blocks or tables look plain in Word.

Headings, paragraphs, bold/italic, and list items map to native Word paragraphs. Fenced code and complex tables flatten to plain text paragraphs. If you need syntax-highlighted code or styled tables, paste those sections and style them in Word, or use a Markdown to PDF route for a fixed look.

Images referenced in the Markdown didn't embed.

Image links point at files that aren't part of the .md upload, so they can't be bundled into the DOCX here. Add the images in Word after converting, or convert via a route that takes a self-contained HTML file with inlined images.

About Markdown and DOCX

Markdown, Markdown

Markdown is plain text with simple punctuation conventions for formatting, # for headings, * for lists, ** for bold, links as [text](url). Created by John Gruber in 2004 and now the default for GitHub READMEs, documentation sites, and modern note-taking apps (Obsidian, Notion-export, Bear).

How to open

Any text editor (raw). Rendered: GitHub, GitLab, VS Code preview, Obsidian, Bear, Notion (importable), Typora, MarkText, Markdown Editor.

DOCX, Microsoft Word Document

DOCX is the file format Microsoft Word has used since 2007, a zip containing XML, images, and styles. It replaced the older binary .doc format and is now the de facto standard for editable documents. Google Docs, Apple Pages, and LibreOffice all read and write DOCX, though formatting fidelity varies for complex layouts (tables, embedded objects, custom styles).

How to open

Microsoft Word (paid), Google Docs (free, web), Apple Pages (free, macOS/iOS), LibreOffice (free, all platforms), or any modern web-based editor like OnlyOffice.

FAQ

Common questions

Is this Markdown → DOCX converter really free?

Yes. No signup, no watermark, no daily file count limit. Every conversion runs in your browser, your file never touches our servers because there are no servers.

Where does my file go when I convert it?

Nowhere. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your file is never uploaded to our servers. We don't have any servers handling files, there's nothing for us to log, store, or accidentally leak.

What's the maximum file size?

Whatever your browser can hold in memory. Practically, this means a few hundred MB on most computers, significantly larger than the 1-2 GB caps that server-upload converters charge for. Very large files (multi-GB) may require closing other browser tabs first.

Why convert Markdown to DOCX?

Documentation, READMEs, notes, blog posts. Editable text documents; the de facto office document standard. The most common reason to convert is compatibility, DOCX works in places where Markdown doesn't, or vice versa.

How do I open a Markdown file in the first place?

Any text editor (raw). Rendered: GitHub, GitLab, VS Code preview, Obsidian, Bear, Notion (importable), Typora, MarkText, Markdown Editor.

Does this work offline?

Once the page is loaded, the conversion itself runs entirely offline. The first time you use a tool, your browser downloads the conversion library (a one-time cache). If you reload while offline, the page won't load, but you can install the site as a Progressive Web App for full offline use.

Can I convert multiple files at once?

Single file at a time for now. Batch conversion is on the roadmap, for now, drop one file, download the result, then convert the next.
