Why convert JSON → CBOR

What this conversion is actually for

CBOR is the binary encoding behind COSE / WebAuthn / IoT stacks; to integration-test against a CBOR endpoint, you need a deterministic encoder. This takes hand-authored JSON, encodes it via cbor-x (the same implementation used by Node's @ipld/dag-cbor), and gives you a binary you can POST directly.

A real example

You are testing a CoAP-over-CBOR endpoint on an ESP32 firmware. Hand-author the payload as JSON, convert here, send the resulting bytes with curl --data-binary.

What's the maximum file size?

Whatever your browser can hold in memory. Practically, this means a few hundred MB on most computers, significantly larger than the 1-2 GB caps that server-upload converters charge for. Very large files (multi-GB) may require closing other browser tabs first.

Why convert JSON to CBOR?
